Terms of Service

1. Agreement

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of MAMAKO and all related products and services (the "Service"), provided by MAMAKO LLC ("we", "us", "our"). By using the Service you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you are using the Service on behalf of a school or organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

2. The Service

MAMAKO provides classroom language-support tools, including live captioning, on-tap translation, and study materials. Some features rely on automated speech recognition and AI; output may be imperfect and should not be relied upon for any safety-critical, medical, legal, or financial use.

MAMAKO also publishes course material at mamako.app/learn, including video lessons and practice questions. Sections 5 to 9 below cover what each part of the Service costs and how you are billed for it.

3. Recording consent

You may not record or transcribe audio of other people without the consent required by the law of your jurisdiction. The user who starts a live session is solely responsible for compliance with all applicable recording, wiretap, eavesdropping, and privacy laws and for obtaining any required consent from people whose voices may be captured.

4. Accounts and eligibility

You may use certain features as a guest. To access full features, you must create an account. You are responsible for activity on your account and for keeping your credentials secure.

Users under the age of digital consent in their country may use the Service only with the consent required by applicable law and through a class created by an authorized teacher or school.

5. Teacher subscriptions

MAMAKO Classroom is sold to teachers as a subscription. Students never buy anything. A student joins a class with a class code from their teacher and uses MAMAKO at no cost.

The price, the billing period, and any introductory or trial terms are shown to you at checkout before you pay, and those are the terms that apply to your subscription. Once it starts, it renews at the price shown, each billing period, until you cancel it. We will tell you in advance of any change to the price of an existing subscription.

You can cancel at any time in the billing portal, reached from your dashboard. Cancelling stops all future charges. It does not refund the period you are already in: your access continues until the end of the period you have paid for, and ends then.

There is no free tier. If a payment fails and is not resolved, access to teacher features stops.

Schools and districts. A school or district may license MAMAKO for its teachers under a signed order form. For those teachers, the order form and any data privacy agreement signed with it set the price, billing, term and cancellation, and take precedence over this section where they differ. MAMAKO does not bill a teacher whose account their school provides.

6. The AP Business course

The AP Business with Personal Finance course at mamako.app/learn/ap-business is free. Every lesson video, the written notes, all 172 practice questions with an explanation for every option, and the glossary are free to read and answer with no payment and no account. A free account remembers what you have finished, and lets a teacher set up a class and see how their own students are getting on.

Paid study material — AI-graded free-response practice and full-length exams — is planned as a separate purchase. It is not on sale, and pricing has not been announced. Nothing on this site can be bought today, and nothing described as free here will be moved behind a payment later.

Access is tied to the account that made the purchase, and you sign in to that account to use it. It is for your own study or teaching use. You may not transfer it to another account, share the account to give others access, or redistribute or resell the material.

7. Refunds

One-time digital purchases (the AP Business course and materials): all sales are final, except where the law where you live requires otherwise. Because the content is digital and delivered in full at purchase, we cannot take it back once it has been accessed. The free sample questions and preview materials exist so you can try before you buy, and we encourage you to use them.

Subscriptions: cancelling stops future billing and takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for. We do not automatically refund a period that has already begun.

If you were charged in a way you did not expect, write to us at hello@mamako.app and we will look into it. Nothing here limits any refund right you have under the law where you live.

8. Payment processing

Payments are processed by Stripe. You enter your card details on Stripe's own checkout and billing pages, and they go directly to Stripe. MAMAKO never receives, sees, or stores your card number. What we store is a Stripe customer reference, what you purchased, and its current status, which is what tells the app to unlock what you paid for.

Prices are shown and charged in US dollars. Where the law requires it, tax such as VAT or GST is calculated from your location and added at checkout. Your use of Stripe is also subject to Stripe's own terms and privacy policy.

9. Price changes

We may change our prices. When we do, we will announce the change in advance by email to registered users it affects.

A price change is never applied retroactively to a period you have already paid for. For a subscription, a new price can only take effect on a renewal that falls after the announcement, so you always have the chance to cancel before it applies. A one-time purchase is charged at the price shown when you buy it, and a later price change does not affect a purchase you have already made.

10. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law
• Record audio of any person without the consent required by law
• Submit content that is harmful, harassing, defamatory, hateful, or discriminatory
• Attempt to access another user's account, class, or transcripts without authorization
• Reverse-engineer, scrape, or otherwise probe the Service except as permitted by law
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service, including by attempting to bypass rate limits or security measures
• Resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the Service or its outputs without our written permission
• Use the Service to transmit malware or other harmful code

11. Your content

You retain ownership of the content you create or submit through the Service ("Your Content"). You grant us a limited license to host, store, transmit, display, and process Your Content solely as necessary to operate the Service for you.

We do not use Your Content to train AI models or sell it to third parties.

12. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time and request account deletion at mamako.app/delete-account. We may suspend or terminate your access — with or without notice — for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or harms other users or the Service.

13. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, or uninterrupted operation, except to the minimum extent required by applicable law.

14. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, MAMAKO LLC will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages — including lost profits, lost data, or business interruption — arising from or related to your use of, or inability to use, the Service.

Our total cumulative liability for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you have paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or (b) USD 100.

15. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold MAMAKO LLC and its personnel harmless from any claim, demand, loss, liability, or expense (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of (a) your use of the Service, (b) Your Content, (c) your violation of these Terms, or (d) your violation of any law or third-party right — including any claim by a person whose voice you recorded without legally required consent.

16. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of Missouri, where MAMAKO LLC is organized, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be resolved in the courts located in Missouri, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts. Nothing in this section prevents either party from seeking injunctive relief in any court of competent jurisdiction.

AP® is a trademark registered by the College Board, which is not affiliated with, and does not endorse, this product.

All questions, explanations, and rubrics are original MAMAKO content, authored from the publicly available Course and Exam Description. No College Board exam questions are reproduced.

18. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
